Canada’s Liberal government has removed the condition requiring some sponsored spouses or partners of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to live with their sponsor to maintain their permanent residence status.
Previously, sponsored spouses or partners in Canada had to live with their sponsor for two years if they had been in the relationship for less than two years at the time of application, or if they had no children together.
